Maps for TomTom 8, TomTom 7,
TomTom XL and TomTom One XL

Did you know, you can now obtain a brand new map for Britain and Northern Ireland, the places you are most likely to visit if you are a UK resident, for less than £40.00, this also applies to most other individual European countries.

On average 15% of roads change every year? That’s why we regularly bring you new maps. Visit our shop to get the latest maps of destinations all over the world. Just download and go!

Most of the road changes occurring in any European country apply mainly to A class roads,

( They don't change motorways too often).

This is not a major problem for anyone using older TomTom Maps, the routing problems occur
because a good percentage of the road changes occur in the major cities, this does cause problems,
especially if the vehicle being driven is a HGV or coach, (difficult to turn around).

Bear this in mind when you decide to plod on with your older TomTom maps instead of renewing the maps every few years.

The full TomTom European maps will be updated too, but the cost of replacing the European TomTom maps for all Europe is quite expensive (£69.99 Gbp) and, to keep updating every few years, unless you frequently drive on other European roads other than your own country, we do not recommend you change these too frequently.

All the TomTom Maps are available here !

Loading TomTom maps to your Gps:

First you need to have the relevant map on your SD card. Typically this will be the Tomtom Map " Western Europe ". When you purchase maps you also get an activation code and instructions telling you how to install the map onto your device and how to authorise it using the code that comes with it.
Before doing anything ... BACK-UP your existing data ( the whole SD card ) onto your computer . This will ensure that if any update is unsuccessful you can at least return things to the way they were before you tried to update.
There are several ways to obtain TomTom maps

With ANY of the above methods BACK UP your existing SD card first . Or even better, make a BACK UP NOW , then if anything goes wrong at any time , you can at least revert back to your backup.

The process of getting the maps onto the memory cards is both straightforward and intuitive with easy to follow instructions.

Simply plug in your TomTom Go and insert your ORIGINAL CD which will allow you to transfer the application data files onto your new memory card that your TomTom Go needs to read the maps and plan your routes.
It will also install the female voice prompt, and give you the option of installing the male prompt.
Once you have installed the application, you can transfer the maps of your choice onto the card. When you're done, you'll need to activate the Maps of Western Europe for use on your device.

You'll use the product key, from inside the CD-ROM box, and the device ID on the device's screen. Enter these codes at the website given and you'll be given another code to type in to your TomTom Go.
This will activate the package and allow you to use it, but make sure you make a note of all the codes, you will need them if you wipe the card and start again, or if you buy another card and use that as well.

Remember that if you have installed a number of maps onto a single card, you will need to switch map on the unit manually. To do this, tap the screen to bring up the menu, then choose preferences / switch map / followed by the map you want to switch to.
It's a great package for a traveller who wants to know exactly where they are, and knows exactly where they're going!
